Everyone start a blog for personal usage but if starts are on his side and his blog is a great success its time now to take in more authors. Sure managing a multi author blog is tedious task but here are 4 useful plugin that will help you out if you are planning to grow.

Role Manager

It’s the most important plugin once you are planning to take in more authors. This plugin will help you to assign different privilege level to different users. For example a editor will be allowed to open and edit all the posts but he will be devoid of deleting any. You can also create custom profile with different roles.

Download Role Manager

Author Comment

This plugin will highlight all the comment from the author on its blog post and make it easier and simpler to read comments and replies. The only requirement is that the author must be logged before he makes any comment.

Download Author Comment

Pre-Publish Reminder

Each admin has a check list before he or she publishes the blog. Now you can share your check list with your co-authors and remind them to check few things before they press the button for review.

Download Pre-Publish Reminder

Audit Trail Plugin

Audit Trail is a plugin to keep track of what is going on inside your blog. It does this by recording certain actions (such as who logged in and when) and storing this information in the form of a log. Not only that but it records the full contents of posts (and pages) and allows you to restore a post to a previous version at any time.

Download Audit Trail Plugin

Do make sure you give enough credits to the author by showing his name and link at the end of the post. Sure there are revenue sharing plugins too if you are willing to share your ad-space with your authors.

Finally, Twitter has launched its official Tweet button for blogs and websites. The Tweet button is a small widget that allows you to share your website contents and count retweets. It can be placed anywhere on your blog or website. There are numerous unofficial buttons, including the famous one from Tweetmeme, available right now.

When you click on the Tweet Button, a pop-up box containing a shortened link of the item, you want to share, will appear. You can add a line of text also. After posting on Twitter, the website may suggest you some accounts to follow.

It has made the task dead simple for the publishers too. Create a customizable Tweet button for your blog with a few clicks. Three types of Tweet buttons are available there under the “Button” tab. These are with vertical, horizontal and without retweet count.

Under the “Tweet text” option, you can add your own text. Otherwise the title of the page, you want to share, will be posted by default.

The URL of the page is the default one. However, you can suggest another URL too.

The new Tweet button is available in five languages like English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese.

A preview will be shown before you grab the single line code to use.

Just copy and paste the code into the HTML for your website wherever you want it to appear.

To create a further customized Tweet button, check out developer documentation.

Websites like Ask.com, CNN, Time.com and YouTube have already started to use this new Tweet button. Start using yours too.

One thing that I really like about WordPress is it’s versatility in Plug-in support. There are various kind of plug-ins available for different purposes. Image Zoomer is a wordpress plugin that will help readers to get more visibility and interaction with images on your site.

It is a small plug-in that basically gives readers the option to zoom a part of the image when they take the mouseover the image. setting this plug-in is easy with only two options that you have to specify.

First of all you have to specify the default zoom then the mouse cursor is taken over the image. By default this is set to 2x zoom but can be extended upto 10x. Readers can zoom in or zoom out using mouse scroll. Second setting that you have to do is the window size within which the image will be magnified, by default it is 75 pixels i.e window size is 75×75 pixels. you can change this according to your convenience.

Image Zoomer is well compatible with the latest version of wordpress and works seamlessly, it can be disabled at any time from the plug-in options if you do not wish to use it.

Download: Image Zoomer

A simple way of showing number of followers on twitter is using Twitter counter buttons or you may use the WordPress plugin which has some badges to show counters.

However, if you use WordPress then using a plain text to show Twitter Followers’ count is preferable as a matter of beauty. There are some hacks developed which includes some changes in core files of WordPress installation but some of you may find it difficult to perform the hack so, ThemeSphere developed a plugin to work out this thing for you.

Twounter is a WordPress Plugin that fetches the number of followers for a twitter profile and returns it in plain text format. Twounter uses Twitter API to ensure that the plugin provides the maximum speed while fetching the number of followers.

Usage :

Use the <?php echo twounter(’username’) ; ?> function in your template files to show the number of Twitter followers. (replace ‘username’ with your Twitter user name)

If you want to show it inside post then, use shortcode [twounter]username[/twounter]

Since the output is simple text, you can use your CSS skills to show it as you want.

Today, most users have a Google account, which allows you to use Google Talk, the messenger through which we can interact / chat with other users. Fortunately, We can add Google Talk Widget to your blog so that visitors can exchange messages with us.

Good thing about this Google Talk Widget is that you only need to have a Google account to add the widget, preventing your visitors from the need of a separate account.

With Google Talk widget, we can chat with multiple people simultaneously, having a tab for each conversation and offering the chance to show our state to help our users know whether we are reachable at the moment or not.

The style of Google Talk widget is similar to the Gmail interface, so it’s not very complicated to use, and the status to choose are: Available, Busy and Offline.

Once, HTML code is embedded, it is not necessary that your visitors install any additional plugin, we just copy the code and paste it into the desired location on our blog (sidebar preferably).

The Google Talk Widget is free and the only requirement is of course, have a Google account, through which we can have improvements such as integration with Gmail and the newly added invisible mode.
