BSNL Wimax tariff review
You may argue with me if I said that BSNL is the best mobile service provider but certainly everyone has to accept that BSNL is no.1 Internet Service Provider (ISP) in India. In fact BSNL helped to save Land line culture in the world of fast growing mobile technology!
The 802.16a standard is used in Wi-Max which was approved in June 2005 and the Wi-MAX stands for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access.Wi-MAX also supports ATM, IPv4, IPv6, Ethernet, and VLAN services .BSNL is setting up (many are already finished) 300 hotspots in various 24 cities includingBangalore,Chennai, Kolkata,Pune,Ulhashnagar, Dombivalley,Kalyan,Hyderabad,Ahmedabad,Lucknow, Ernakulum, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Ranchi, Patna, Indore,Coimbatore,Trichy , Madurai,Pondicherry where as this service has been BSNL Wimax service has been launched in more than 200 base stations in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Thus the BSNL subscriber who have their Laptops can access to this sevice and for subscriber who have Desktop PCs can access this service after installing PCMCIA card.
BSNL Wi-Max tariff plans
BSNL has two different categories for subscriber like as BSNL broadband, Home users and Business users. Both plans come up with Unlimited data access and for Home uses minimum speed starts from 256kbps (upto) having monthly charges of Rs 10000 only where as for business use it Rs 4400.Below is the screen shot directly from the BSNL’s official website showing you all the tariff plans.

Bsnl truely rocks..
people always complaint about bsnl service but millions of people enjoying bsnl service and didn say anything so only poor image for bsnl:)
The coverage area will vary according to the type of BTS(Antenna) used and type of CPE(customer premise equipment used) . There are mainly 3 type wimax BTS’s URBAN,SEMIURBAN and RURAL type . This rural type will be getting the maximum coverage and urban type the least.
3 type cpe’s too, usb type, small modem type(indoor) and one with external antenna(outdoor).
And with my experience during testing ( urban type BTS) , usb will get a maximum 700 m coverage, desktop modem type will get 1.5 to 2 km’s and external antenna will get 3.5-4 kms.
What i said are the optimum ranges(for an urban condition). In some places more coverages were got.
So before buying keep these in mind and decide which type of cpe to be bought,

Ya. I really enjoyed Wi-max in kerala . Its amazing . 2Mbps speed UNLIMITED @ 750 rs pm . Super . I salute BSNL KERALA.

GPRS on post paid CellOne connection turned to be too sluggish for any practical use and was eating into my earnings. Saddled by all the burden viz-a-viz inconveniences I was pulling on(based on the assurances of bsnl staff) with gprs with all the hopes cast on 3G on launching. But to my dismay, after waiting for more than 1 year it was found to be not active in the area where I was dwelling. I was about to leave BSNL. While least expected WiMAX connection was launched and the trial proved to be success. I have no browsing problems since WiMAX was connected weeks back and it is fast by any yardstick! Thanks to Divl. Engineer and his crew for the support. I believe this will go untill the customer base do not proliferate beyond the optimal range.

I got Wimax connection one month before. I am at Coimbatore rural area. i.e. 12 kms from Coimbatore city, Tudiyalur.
Befor getting my Wimax BSNL engineers came to my house and check the speed with their laptop and then only they accept my application for Wimax. The Speed is really good. Sometime I got 2.5 kbps. Tariff also good. If we go for unlimited plans then the speed will be 512 mbps only. The BSNL officials recommend me to take limited plan (ie. 2, 3 or 4 GB per month). My house is 1 km near the BSNL tower. I put the antenna at second floor (i.e. 25 feet above the ground level). BSNL engineers shows a great responsibility in our area and easy to reach.

I got WiMax connection month of Oct-15th, 2011.
It’s Really execellent service from Sulur BSNL office. I went to Sulur BSNL office for internet connection enquery. They gave good respect and all details. I updated all details. My area, Pattanam (near Ondipudr). AE updated me that first check it our area wimax connection available or not. Within 30 mins AE took car and came with me to my house. Witnin one hour identiifed connection available then provided connection.
Till now Good speed and good response from Sulur (CBE) BSNL office.
