Facebook to have custom profile URL

Up-till now, sharing Facebook profile URL was a real pain as its style is too difficult to remember and a long one to share. Facebook has now going to add new feature by saturday to select custom profile URL or “username” so you can get something like http://facebook.com/username which is similar to Twitter.

This username will be selected by user itself which can be nickname, combination of words and not just limited to real name. But the names are allocated by first come first serve basis. So, you will have to hurry up as soon as the service starts to get desired name. Visit Facebook Username page (which shows the countdown for now) to choose username. Think carefully about the username you choose. Once it’s been selected, you won’t be able to change or transfer it. If you signed up for a Facebook Page after May 31 or a user profile after today at 3 p.m. EDT, you may not be able to sign up for a username immediately
