How to install Incompatible Addons in Firefox 4.0 Beta

The latest beta version of Firefox 4.0 is is bit of an eye candy in looks as compared to the previous releases. The users are already in love with the features such as  tabs on top and all new single menu look inspired by Opera and Chrome, providing them greater browsing space. Unlikely for all the users who are found of customizing there browsing experience with their favorite addons, most of them will refuse to install due to compatibility issues. Now here is a way you can bypass the compatibility check and install them.

When ever you try to install an incompatible addon in Firefox 4.0 Beta this is the error you will see.

To bypass the incompatibility check and install your addon just follow these simple steps :-

• Open up the “about:config” page in a new tab. With out the quotes of course.
• Right click anywhere on this page and navigate to  New —> Boolean in the contextual menu .

• Now just enter the Preference Name from the list below depending the version you are using.

4.0 Beta: extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b

4.0 Release: extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0

• Select the value as false and save the Preference.

If you are not sure which version of Firefox 4.0 you are actually using just add both the Preferences Name and set their value to false.

From now on you can install your favorite addon  no matter they are incompatible.
