Facebook Chat is a rage these days and to appear unique and engaging in conversation is what all we want. Using the default Emoticons available in Facebook Library in chat won’t be enough in such case so, here’s how you can send Photos / Images in FB Chat.

You should be happy now to know that its possible to send Images to make Facebook Chatting more fun without need of any external plugin or web browser extension. Simply, follow the steps and you can use any image as Emoticon in Facebook Chat.

How to send Photos on FB Chat

Choose the picture / image you want to send on chat and upload it on any image hosting site. Dropbox’s Public folder is recommended.

Open a Notepad file and paste the following code:

< !DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type">
<title>Blogsolute FB Chat</title>
<meta name="og:image" content="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5715805/fchat.jpg"/>
</meta></head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

In <title> you can put anything but in content, it should be the URL of the image file you placed in Dropbox Public Folder. To get the Image URL, right click on image and in “Dropbox” >> Copy Public Link.

Save this notepad file as *.htm For example: fb-chat.htm and save it in same public folder. This file can be even uploaded to any webserver allowing to host HTML pages.

Go to Facebook Debugger Tool and paste the Public link of the HTML file we uploaded in previous step.

Result will be somewhat like shown below:
And copy the number at the end of URL.

Now you are all set to use the Emoticon in facebook chat. If the number is 10150532363308308, then write [[10150532363308308]] in Chat window and send.

This was all about sending any custom image as emoticon / smiley on Facebook.

How to Send Profile Picture as Emoticon on Facebook Chat

This trick, I spotted on SoluteForum which also works on above technique but doesn’t include uploading image as profile pictures are already on Facebook.

You just need the Profile ID of the person whose profile photo is to be used as Emoticon in Chat. Profile ID is the number in the URL of the account which looks like this.

So, enter this ID inside double brackets and send.

Some profiles these days have Vanity URL like fb.com/rohit.langde so, instead of ID, use the username inside brackets. For ex: [[rohit.langde]]

It should be noted that the image sent will be 16x16px irrespective of the size of image you send.

All of us are well aware of office documents formats like docx/docm, pptx/pptm, epub, etc. These are the most used documents formats nowadays and pulling out image from each of them isn’t easy job if done manually.

Some of you might know how to extract images from docx and ppt files, but there are many out there who don’t know how to do it. What I’m going to show is the easiest and hassle free way to extract images from office document formats, so this goes for the knowing ones also.

In order to extract images from the office documents all you have to do is follow these steps:

1). Download and Install Office Image Extraction Wizard from here.

2). Specify the target file in the Document box as shown below.

3). Choose the Output folder where you want your images to be extracted.

4). Now click Next and then press the Start button, your images will be processed in no time.

All the images of your office document have been processed to your desired output folder.

Here is the list of Supported Document Formats:

Microsoft Word 2007+ ( .docx / .docm )

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007+ ( .pptx / .pptm )

Microsoft Excel 2007+ ( .xlsx / .xlsm )

OpenDocument Text ( .odt )

OpenDocument Presentation ( .odp )

OpenDocument Spreadsheet ( .ods )

Electronic Publication Books ( .epub )

Comic Book Archive (.cbz )

Extract Images from PDF document

As Office Image Extraction Wizard doesn’t support PDF documents, there is a dedictaed tool called Some PDF Images Extract which works exactly as above and allows you to save images extracted from PDF as JPEG, PNG, GIF or TIFF file.

How many times while hearing a song on the radio or on TV, you said to yourself “What song is it? Who sings it? “. Questions that most often remain unanswered, staying with a bitter taste unless you use an application specifically for computer or smartphone to find it.

There are, in fact, incredible software with just a few seconds of “listening” are able to recognize the spectrum of a song and identify the title and artist of a song. Here they are:

Windows and Mac OS X

Audiggle

While listening to a song you can just click the button Search or use the shortcut Audiggle Ctrl + Alt + A. Then, this free software based on the sound properties finds out information about the artist and song title. It does not matter whether one listens to music via Internet stream or with a PC microphone picks up the signal from an analog radio.

The recognition phase may take some time, but accuracy is high. The only exception is for versions of “live” songs, not always recognized during our tests.

Tunatic

Tunatic software also works like Audiggle: With a microphone acting as an input signal of a song. The program will search for song / tracks in a giant database and gives with great success rate about the song title. Tunatic is also available for Mac OS X.

Smartphones

Shazam

It is perhaps the best known mobile app for the recognition of songs. Using the device’s microphone and an Internet connection, compare the sounds received with a huge music database. Matches are displayed on the phone and the data can be saved. Shazam allows you to discover the latest trends in music charts thanks to the tag, look for songs that show every week in 20 different countries. Available for iPhone, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

SoundHound

One step further, this free Android application: If you hum a tune into the phone microphone, the app plays within a short time from a mating song. The detection rate is even higher than Shazam. In addition, the application displays YouTubeVideo for the song and similar or related artists. SoundHound also recognizes songs in German, but English songs work better.

Web Apps

LyricRat

You simply write the words of the chorus or part of the song and the song for you is identified by LyricRat. Finds and play songs from the free web app directly. However, the success rate is relatively low even with correct spelling. It is helpful incase you missed detecting the song while playing but remember some part of it and search afterwards.

Midomi

This site is operated by the creators of SoundHound. The detection technique is the same as the smartphone app. Clicking on a button takes on the central Web-App with the PC microphone sung melodies or songs, looking for possible matches. The detection rate is high and in a short time a song is displayed with additional information.

I’m not sure who the first guy to upload a file to the internet was. But not long after he did it I bet there was a line of people waiting to download it. And the world hasn’t been the same since.

Today, there are even tools available for you to download right from your Internet browser.

One of the oldest methods of downloading from the Internet (older than the World Wide Web itself) is Usenet.

More than 30 years old, Usenet is a decentralized network of servers that store text messages and files.

No matter what you are looking for, chances are good you can find it on Usenet.

The modern Usenet has many advantages over other popular downloading methods:

Uncapped Speeds – Download as fast as your Internet connection will allow

Huge Selection – With more than 800 Terabytes available and growing every day

Security – 256-Bit encrypted connections & no server logs keep your downloads to yourself

Getting setup to download from Usenet is a 3 step process.

Step 1 – Usenet Server Access

The first step is to gain access to a Usenet server. In the past, Usenet access was typically provided by your local university or Internet service provider. However, as the cost of maintaining those servers went up, most of these groups stopped providing access.

Premium Usenet providers have stepped in to fill the void. Premium Usenet providers grant you access to their Usenet servers for a small fee.

Premium providers have consequently been able to add more storage to the network. Whereas messages and files used to be deleted from the servers after a certain period of time, modern Usenet servers are now storing all posts indefinitely.

With a number of Usenet providers available, review sites such as Comparere and NewsgroupReviews provide the pros and cons of each provider.

Step 2 – Newsreader (Usenet Client)

Once you have access to a Usenet server, you need a special piece of software to access the posts and files on that server. This piece of software is usually referred to as a Newsreader or Usenet client.

There are a number of open source Newsreaders available such as Grabit & SABnzbd.

While the open source options provide the minimum necessary to download, some of the advanced Newsreaders provide extra options such as the ability to preview an audio, video or image file before you download it.

Step 3 – Usenet Search Engine

Finally, with the massive amount of data available on Usenet, it is impossible to find what you are looking for by just browsing through the archives.

You need access to a robust Usenet search engine which has indexed the available content.

Sites like NZBMatrix provide you the ability to search Usenet and download an NZB file. The NZB file gives directions to your newsreader on where to find the associated files on Usenet.

All-In-One Usenet Providers

Recently, providers such as Binverse have been combining everything you need to download from Usenet into one package. By providing Usenet server access and Usenet client with built-in search you no longer need to acquire each piece separately.

The speed and security of downloading from Usenet make it well worth checking out.

What do you think? Have you downloaded from Usenet? Would you be interested in downloading from Usenet? Let me know in the comments below.

Generally, the problem comes when you’ve to format and then get those programs again by manually, which is somewhat tiring. Plus you miss out on some of them to install. But this problem is no more because of this small yet perfect utility to transfer your programs to your new OS.

This PickMeApp utility is worth for saving your time getting your installed programs into your new PC/Laptop from your old OS or another PC.

What it does?

It captures the programs you’ve installed and make the package in the default Download directory in your system. Although it doesn’t capture programs like Adobe flash or any default Apps that are associated with the system languages so its bit of annoying but not a big deal. You can get those manually.

This utility has helped me to install Adobe Reader which cannot be installed in HP mini directly as it always gives the Installer error. Its just an observation that I am sharing with you. You might have come across with this error in your Netbook.

Another point is this PickMeApp doesn’t captures your personal data related to those programs. As I’ve captured TweetDeck to see if its able to get my account details and all, but sadly it didn’t. BTW, its still not a big deal, although I would say a good behaviour that doesn’t let others to get your important data.

I’ve tried PickMeApp as you can see below :

How to Move Installed Windows Programs to another Computer

Now, I am going to tell you the exact procedure to get your programs into another PC.

Step 1 : Tick the programs you want to capture.

As I’ve already selected those programs so its not showing Tick over them ergo this is where you’ve to select your programs that you want in your PC. After selecting press the Capture button in the middle of it. Let the process complete and then it will show you the list of captured programs.

Step 2 : Making the Package

Here is the list of captured Apps. Now all you’ve to do is to copy down the package which is probably saved in your download directory.

Step 3: Deploy the Package to new Computer

Get that package into another PC and start PickMeApp. NO NEED TO INSTALL !

It will automatically read the installed programs and the captured programs from your Package. You can select which programs should be installed or in the middle you can choose the Install Package to install all the programs. Once again it doesn’t save your personal data related to the software. So you will have to get it manually.

Download PickMeApp here !

For a web surfer, Browser is his world containing bookmarks, history of URLs, Plugins and much more. So, while moving on to new machine or use Firefox on different devices then here’s a catch to get back same settings and environment by backing up Firefox.

When we talk about Firefox, we talk about the most dominant browser in the world. Does it mean that it’s better than other? Actually in a way it is, as it is a opensource software, thus giving us the ability to develop more and more plugins and stable upgrades for it.

What are good aspect of firefox?

The only good aspect that firefox provides, but it’s the best aspect any browser can provide, that is the support that it provides for their millions user sitting at home.

Today I’m going to introduce to one such application that firefox provides is the ability to make full and complete backup of your cookies, download history, bookmarks, permissions, browsing history, addons, stored and saved sessions, and much more.

Though Latest versions of Firefox support Sync but that only syncs browser history, Bookmarks, Tabs and Passwords. But there are many things beyond that.

To get same experience, Addons have to be backed up, Themes, Settings, Design, Form Data, Block List, Stored Sessions, Cookies, Preferences and much more. Firefox Backup Tool is ultimate solution to do all this in one click.

How to Backup Firefox Browser Completely

So if you want to create a complete backup of your firefox browser, you can do that in following way:

1) First download Firefox Backup Tool from here and open it.

2) Now create a save file by clicking on the option Save.

3) Just give a name to your save file and click Save and give some proper name so that you don’t forget it or delete it by mistake.

4) After that click on the option Backup at the bottom right.

5) After some time your backup will be complete.

Now, if your firefox become unstable due to some new plugin installation or due to some other thing, you don’t have to worry much about it as you can restore all your settings back to the way they were with this same tool.

With an Android SmartPhone at hand we love to install and try tons of applications. The main problem with devices like Galaxy Ace is that the phone memory is too low to support our expectation. As a result long before we are satisfied the “Low on Memory” notification pops up. The only way to tackle this problem is having our applications moved to SD card. But it is not simple to move apps.

For this purpose the ROM we are using must support this feature. Earlier we have covered FirstUA and SanGingerACE ROMs which has this feature inbuilt. These Roms has Darktremor Apps2SD script pre included which helps us to do so.

In an app2sd enabled ROM only thing we need to do is partition our SD cards. The partition should be done in such a way that it consists of one FAT 32 format for general use and other EXT 4 for App2SD. There are two very easy ways in which this can be done. So let’s see what they are.

How to partition SD card for App2SD

The first method that we are going to discuss is using windows and the second method can be directly used from your Android phone.

Note: Before proceeding to further steps it is mandatory that you back up your SD card data on your system. You will lose all your data during the format.

Using Windows

Things required:

Download and install the MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition.

Keep the SD card ready in an external card reader.

What is MiniTool Partition Wizard and how to use it?

MiniTool Partition Wizard is a freeware windows desktop application. It not only helps in formatting SD cards in several formats but also is complete disk management software that offers tons of useful features. Using this application is simple.

It can work with pre allotted tasks; as a result you do not have to sit and wait to perform operations turn by turn. Hence make you choices and apply them at once, no need to look back.

Once you have got this software installed proceed to the next steps:

Put the card reader in usb with the SD inserted.

Open MiniTool Partition Wizard and you will see the SD card.

Select it by a single click and right click on the drive. From right click options select delete.

Now you will see the whole space as unallocated. Right click on it and create.

Now the first partition to be created is the FAT 32. Create it as primary.

Select space you want for normal SD leaving space for the EXT 4 partition.

Once the above step is done again click on the left over unallocated partition and create again. Click ok on any warning and make the partition as logical and in EXT 4. The size of this partition is already decided from the FAT 32 partition.

After completing all these steps click on Apply button on right hand upper menu. Sit back and wait for the application to complete its job.

Using Android Phone

Things required:

Clock Work Mod Recovery- Installation Guide.

Working SD card inserted into phone.

After getting the above things ready, proceed with the given steps:

Boot into CWM (keep Middle button + Power button pressed in off state).

Scroll down to advance options (second last option).

In Advance and Debugging Menu go to Partition SD Card (second last option).

Select EXT and swap partition size according to your needs and overall size of the SD card.

Wait till the process completes. You will get a success message if things are done.

Which of the above method is better?

It depends on situations. If you are having enough time then it’s better to go by the desktop application. There you can directly format to EXT 4 if your android file system is utilizing EXT 4. But in present version of CWM 4.0.0.9 the partition made is EXT 3. So this method is suitable only when the above method is not present at hand.

I was never into design stuffs or maybe I am not that creative to build my own fonts for Logos, etc but it is actually possible to create your own fonts easily. Don’t know whether there are any other methods by which Fonts can be made but I came across Simple Font Editor where you just have to fill blocks with bricks.

Blocks and Bricks sounds confusing, eh? Fontstruct is online Font maker or Fonts builder where you have to fill the space block by block with various shapes of Bricks. Bricks are nothing but various designed shapes which can be used to create one alphabet.

How to start building Font?

Go to http://fontstruct.com/ and sign up for a new account.

Give a unique name to your font and start building it in editor.

Editor is simple and straight. On right side are the blank blocks which have to filled with the various bricks of your choice given in left hand. For your ease, Related tools like Eraser, etc are given at hand.

Menu at the bottom lets you choose various sources/types of font namely, Greek, Latin, Bengali and even Devnagri. So, this tool can even be used to build many Indian regional languages fonts like Hindi, Marathi, Gurmukhi, Bangla, etc.

Go on creating a design for each character, Numbers and related symbols in that accent. When you are finished with designing each font character. You can try Preview and Test it in Live editor. Satisfied with it, then download the font by pressing on Download button from top menu.

Download comes in ZIP format which contains font in TTF format / extension. This font is compatible with all operating systems. Just open the TTF file or right click on it followed by install button to start using it in applications like MS word, Powerpoint and Photoshop.

It acts different for different sites. For example, on Youtube, you will be given options about quality of video whether FLV or MP4. Whereas on other sites, it redirects to FlashVideoDownloader site where download link is generated and you can Right click > Save as to download the video.

In my tests, FVD worked out to be fine with almost all sites like Facebook, CollegeHumor, DailyMotion, Veoh, Vimeo and others. It somehow extracts the Video Media File link on the webpage and the same you can use to download.

Flash Video Downloader Browser Plugin supports all Web Browsers namely Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

I found it most versatile addon and one-stop solution for capturing embedded Videos from any site with just a click.
