Reset Windows 7 Rearm count and run indefinitely without crack

| March 1, 2010 | 73 Comments

Rearm extends your Windows 7 activation and runs a countdown of 30 days. In this period, you need to activate it (which is generally cracked). Well, you can reset your Rearm count and run Windows 7 forever without cracking it actually. The process is not very complicated but requires little patience.

Many users may have left stranded after last Windows 7 update WAT – KB971033 for fighting against cracks and illegal activations. But using this trick by MDL Forum, you will be able to reset rearm count to infinity and use Windows 7 original forever without crack and downloading all Windows updated calmly.

Now let’s start: First, open Start and in the search field type services. On the opening of new window, find “Software Protection“, Right click on it and Stop.

reset windows 7 rearm

Now Let’s go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform Right click file tokens.dat, We select Cut and paste it to your Desktop.

After doing this too, Go to C: Windows\System32. At this point we look for two hidden files, which by extension will have. C7483456-A289-439d-8115-601632D005A0. Once found, move them to your desktop. If you can not view them, you set the Show Hidden Files from Folder Options.

Now we return to the first step, in which I asked you to open Services After searching Start it. At this point keep the window open and in the meantime start the Command Prompt as Administrator and enter the command slmgr /dlv. Now back to the screen that you left open, head back to Software Protection and Start.

reset windows 7 rearm

But now let’s concentrate on the three files that we pasted on the desktop. Replace them in their original positions, overwrite token.dat in C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
the other 2 are placed in C:\WindowsSystem32.

Now, we are performing another important step of entering product keys for rearming. Open the Command Prompt as administrator like we always did. Run “slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX” replacing X marks with your default product key. Keys are as follows:

Ultimate – D4F6K-QK3RD-TMVMJ-BBMRX-3MBMV
Professional – HYF8J-CVRMY-CM74G-RPHKF-PW487
Home Premium – RHPQ2-RMFJH-74XYM-BH4JX-XM76F
Home Basic – YGFVB-QTFXQ-3H233-PTWTJ-YRYRV
Starter – 7Q28W-FT9PC-CMMYT-WHMY2-89M6G

reset windows 7 rearm

The most important part was done, we can now reboot the pc. After turning on your computer, you can check whether the command was executed, then open the command prompt and type slmgr /dlv to check if the meter is actually restarted.

RemoveWAT can take care of KB971033 without any fuss. But, your trick is interesting. I didn’t know about this. I was only aware of the slmgr -rearm trick which can only be used a limited no. of times.

i can’t find the files (C7483456-A289-439d-8115-601632D005A0), so don’t really know what to do now that i did’t see the files.
      please i need help

    Hi friends!

Have’nt heard of this me neither, interesting article.

Perhaps following might be useful if someone want’s to read the activation info in Windows script host without open the prompt. Write this command in the Start menu, slmgr.vbs -dlv afterwords hit Run.

Would be interesting if someone could find an explanation regarding the details inside.
Perhaps it’s possible to trace what kind of license which is installed genuine, evaluation etc. By the way, where can people check their product keys to see they not fake keys, does it excist any webpage?

    • Rohit Langde says:

Using this trick, You are extending the evaluation period of time. The product key used is a default product key used to install Windows 7 and that’s nominal. There is no hack included to activate windows illegally. It’s just you are increasing the rearm period to infinity.

  3. ospen says:

very good article! i just have a question. do i replace the two original files in C:Windows/system32 or keep them both?

i’ve tried replacing the file but it can’t saying that it is still in use.

There’s no AppData folder in NetworkService on my pc. Thoughts?

  5. Kfir says:

It worked only on one computer, the other one kept telling me, that I’m messing around with windows and that it’s not genuine.
And let me only restart the computer, after it it kept comlaining

  6. Vijay H says:

I have tried but at last step after entering key , it says key is not valid genuine key.

  7. Gazel says:

I forgot to crack my windows 7 and now it is expired :( what can i do in this case to reuse it again?
    It restarts every single hour:/

    • betty says:

you can try to set your startup to run “shutdown /t 315360000″ when your PC boots up. This will override the automatic shutdown and set it to 10 years. This worked for me before I unfortunately messed up both of my windows 7 trials using the above method. I don’t know if they are recoverable. Oh well…

      • betty says:

The correct command is “shutdown -s -t 315360000″. This will override windows 7 from shutting down every hour. Sorry.

      • Charles says:

hi there I have read some of your info on this page I was wondering if you could tell me if I can check if mzy software is a trial version. Sounds Silly I know but I can not find anwhere some thing that says activate or trial or the like just the version and the build but I did download a 120 day trial version. I would really appreciate some help.

    • Ron says:

You have an enterprise version of windows. Can’t easily stop the restarting, unless you reload OS from scratch. Then you get another 90 days.

  8. SadGuy says:

It’s 3-18-2010. I followed these steps really well, but upon rebooting I get the ‘blah blah windows is not genuine” junk. windows says it has 4 rearms available. wow. okay so when i do the “slmgr -rearm”, the following error pops up:

    “Windows Script Hose”
“On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run ‘slui.exe 0x2a 0xC004FE00′ to display the error text. Error: 0xC004FE00″
    “OK”.

When I run that in a Command Prompt, the following shows up.

“An error has occurred. You can contact Microsoft by phone to help resolve this problem. Description: The Software Licensing Service reported that activation required is required to recover from tampering of SL Service trusted store.”

And a link provided to the Microsoft call center: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295539

So great, now I have to talk to Microsoft to get this dumb Windows7 activated?! What am I possibly going to tell them. “Yeah I don’t know my activation key but want one anyway”. Sigh.

I had 3 days to go before the PC needed rearmed, but nooo I had to try to trick the activation instead.

  9. whosonfirst says:

    @SadGuy-

A part of your message included the wording:

“The Software Licensing Service reported…” blah blah blah.

This tells me you did not follow the steps properly and did not stop the licensing service prior to completing the other steps.

Of course, I’ve been wrong before and I’ll be wrong again. However, the fact that a licensing SERVICE is creating a conflict leads me to believe it must be RUNNING in order for it to work at all.

If I were you – or anyone else – I’d try the steps at least 3 times if I had problems before posting to ensure I was following everything as instructed.

Let’s not forget that 99% of all PC-related issues are due to “user error.”

  10. Cory says:

Dude, thank you sooo much for this. oit worked for my computer. but i used 7loader instead of a key. i have had windows 7 now for like 5 months now and i freaking love it.

  11. Montenegro says:

Dude, thanks so much. this shit worked perfectly

  12. Montenegro says:

just an expression, i didnt mean it was actual shit. lol

  13. Pranav says:

    I cannot find “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform” in my computer.What should I do?Please advice.:-)

  14. betty says:

I must be losing my mind. If you want to prevent windows 7 from shutting down automatically after 1 hour when activation has expired add to your startup (or type manually after boot up) “shutdown /s /t 315359999″. This will override the 1 hour and extend it to about 10 years.

  15. betty says:

I still have the 3 original files saved on my desktop. Is there a way to use these to get my windows back to being activated and in a valid trial status? I even reloaded the Windows 7 Enterprise DVD on top of the current install and it still shows “not genuine”. The key that was used (embedded in the ISO) when I originally installed Win 7 Enterprise comes back as either expired or not valid.

  16. hy says:

I tried to shut down the software protection service and got an error saying that it can’t be in on Local machine. am i missing something here? I just downloaded the enterprise trial.. do i need a specific version?

  17. Windows 8 says:

@betty – FYI, Microsoft nixed the shutdown workaround in Vista by limiting the maximum time to 10 minutes (600 seconds). The same holds true for Windows 7. You can set it to 1000 years if you want, but it will still default to 10 minutes.

  18. navoor says:

in the article you have not shown the result screen after reboot and command of slmgr /dlv. please show how the screen will appear if it is correctly done.

    • Betty says:

“Windows 8″ – Not true. I’m running Win 7 Enterprise trial (expired from trying to implement the procedure on this page to extend the rearm period) right now and a message pops up when I enter that command which says something like “you will be logged out in the year 2017″. My PC has been running for about 4 hours. If I don’t enter this command after boot up, it will shut down in one hour. My copy is showing “Not Genuine”. When it was “Not Activated” the command also worked.

  19. Win7Free says:

Follow the link Rohit has instead of his directions. If you follow Rohit’s to a “T” it will screw up! He has a typo. It isn’t “slmgr / dlv” it’s “slmgr /dlv”

Entering the wrong command will trigger “Windows is not genuine”

Once that occurs you will have to do a re-install.

I saw the typo, but others cut and pasted the command, and well… they are screwed now.

  20. Win7Free says:

    Better solution posted here.

    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/17938-GUIDE-How-to-really-run-Windows-7-forever-without-applying-any-cracks

Works even if the above method screwed you up! Just print out the instructions and follow them.

    • Betty says:

This finally worked! I was able to get it back to the 10 activation period. My problem was I didn’t have the enterprise key. Once I found it, the above worked perfectly. I will try the original procedure on a virtual machine before trying it on my regular machine.

  21. B says:

I attempted the fix, but at the first step, I was not able to stop the Software Protection Service. Was advised the service is in use. I then disabled it, and rebooted …..

Now boot up loops and does not let me into Win7 :(

    Any (gratefully received) ideas?

  22. Betty says:

I think the other procedure is easier. Once you create the batch files (one with the registry “fix” and the other with your default key), it’s just a matter of booting up into repair mode and then executing the first batch file, rebooting and then executing the second batch file. Then you can use the rearm command.

  23. fatah says:

am using windows 7 build 7000.. it gets shut down for every 1hr.. pls help how to disable it and how to run my 7 for ever

  24. prabhu says:

Once the Software protection is Started, the files ‘token.dat’ and the 2 files with extension ‘C7483456-A289-439d-8115-601632D005A0′ cannot be put back in their original folders.

  25. Joe says:

The “Software Protection” service keeps starting. Every time it restarts, it recreates the files I moved form System32 etc. My version of “Windows 7″ must be different than the one this was written for.

  26. tom_suke says:

I did it all, and yet….nothing, I got the
“On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run ‘slui.exe 0x2a 0xC004FE00? to display the error text. Error: 0xC004FE00?
    “OK”.
Error thing, and it won’t let me rearm, even though I have four rearms. It just keeps this error up, and I’m still at windows not genuine, and there’s no product key.
My email is billycookiechick@yahoo.com, please contact and help me.

  42. tester says:

    Mr Rohit,

You have made a lot of typos…and messed up with the instructions, epecially with service -sppsvc.

    Here are the correct instructions

    1) Stop the Software Protection service -sppsvc:
(type services.msc in the search box and run it, look for “Software Protection” service and right click on it > Stop).

    2) Move your tokens.dat to your desktop
    (go to: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
right click on tokens.dat click CUT and past it to your desktop)
*you may need to take ownership of the file if you can’t move it to your desktop

    3) Go to C:\Windows\System32
LOOK for 2 hidden files with this extention “.C7483456-A289-439d-8115-601632D005A0″
move these two files to your desktop.
*you may need to take ownership of the files if you can’t move them to your desktop
*if you can’t find the files, make sure on “folder options” that you can see hidden and system files.

    4) Start the Software Protection service -sppsvc:
(type services.msc in the search box and run it, look for “Software Protection” service and right click on it > Start).

    5) Open command prompt as admin and run “slmgr /dlv”

    6) Stop the Software Protection service again.

    7) Put the files on your desktop back to their place and and replace them.
    tokens.dat to:
    C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    and the 2 files to:
    C:\Windows\System32

8 ) Install your default product key.
open command prompt as admin and run “slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX”
change “XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX” to your edition default key:
    Ultimate – D4F6K-QK3RD-TMVMJ-BBMRX-3MBMV
    Professional – HYF8J-CVRMY-CM74G-RPHKF-PW487
    Home Premium – RHPQ2-RMFJH-74XYM-BH4JX-XM76F
    Home Basic – YGFVB-QTFXQ-3H233-PTWTJ-YRYRV
    Starter – 7Q28W-FT9PC-CMMYT-WHMY2-89M6G

    9) Reboot your computer.

    10) Run slmgr /dlv again, and you will see that your rearms has been reseted.
    enjoy.

    One question…
Does resetting to 4 needs to be done everytime?

  43. tester says:

    Mr Rohit,

Just Ignor the question asked earlier.

    Imp questions below…Please answer.
