Samsung has announced the launched of Monte S5620. This stylish touchscreen phone is available in India at an affordable price of Rs 8,850. S5620 is a 3G-enabled device with TouchWiz 2.0 UI and quad-band GSM support. It has a very good 3.2 MP camera with 4x zoom. Definitely a handy budget touchscreen phone!

This 3-inch WQVGA TFT capacitive touch screen phone has many cool features to offer. To start with, it sports a very stylish User Interface (UI), which is provided by TouchWiz UI 2.0, giving it more of a 3D look. In addition to this, Touchwiz 2.0 has three customizable widget screens and downloadable widgets. It is also equipped with motion-response UI. Its smart unlock application allows so you to access apps directly from the unlock screen.

S5620 has a lot to offer to media-centric people as well. It will not disappoint you if you are fond of listening loud music. The phone has a good noise resistance and the presence of Digital Natural Sound engine (audio enhancement technology) makes it even better. All video functionality like video messaging, streaming and video telephony are included. Moreover, it offers you to have an easy access to social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Picasa.

Monte S5620 has a decent 3.2 MP camera with 4X Digital Zoom Smile Shot and offers QVGA video recording at 15 fps. The handset also offers a good connectivity with the presence of Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 2.1.

It seems that there is a cold war going on between the phone manufacturing companies for producing a budget touchscreen phone, equipped with a bundle of services. Just about 3-4 days back HTC launched HTC Smart in collaboration with Airtel priced at Rs 9990. And now we have Samsung`s latest Monte S5620 amidst us.

My Verdict

The Samsung Monte S5620 is a good handset for touchscreen lovers. The phone has all the sophisticated features that today`s Smartphones posses. It has a decent offering in all the arenas-whether it is connectivity, media, camera or battery. Well, if you are in a hunt of a budget touchscreen phone then here is a nice opportunity for you.

  1. I am looking for an affordable Android 2.0 touchscreen phone in India. Any idea if anything comes below 18 to 20K? I know that Android 1.1 phones come at 12-13K but it seems to be an outdated OS.
