Twitter is becoming next Killer app?

0 Comments 07 June 2009

twitter-killer-appIn the month of April Twitter received 32 million hits which surely indicates that it’s use has gone beyond geeks. Simply means that more and more people have started using Twitter but apparently no one explained the twitter phenomenon and we too are not going to be an exception here.

But recent statistics of a survey carried out by TweetGrade on 7 million Twitter accounts shows that 80% of the accounts have less than 10 followers which you can consider as Ghost accounts of the people who registered and left out after having few friends. But another number is more shocking which tells that 30% of accounts have no followers. It means that few people don’t care to reuse their account after registering because they get bored quickly?

TechCrunch stated that most of the Twitterers are sheeps. After getting rid of the dead accounts and spam accounts (24 percent of accounts follow nobody), what do we have left? All the activity on Twitter is coming from the remaining people who stick around—that 20 percent with more than ten followers and the 32 percent following more than ten people.

As stated by TIME magazine, do you think Twitter could be next Killer app?
