There were rumors already about the paid or premium version of Twitter and now it is Confirmed by the founder of Twitter,Biz Stone, that you will soon be able to purchase premium accounts to access additional services.

The price is still unknown, and services ranging from advanced statistical tools to track brand. In parallel and completely independent of these premium accounts, Twitter plans to launch an API further for commercial enterprises, companies and services available to others with the box step.

twitter premiumNormal accounts remain completely free, because this movement is intended to capture only those individuals or companies that are using Twitter in a professional manner. As I have said, it will focus only on providing additional services such as statistics, unlike other services like Flickr freemium, which offer more functionality if you pay. To make that clear: there will be no functionality to pay, and the source of income will not be the end users but businesses.

Finally revealed the method chosen to capitalize on Twitter, I have no doubt that if companies find these useful tools, they can earn a good amount of money. Especially in the U.S., with the number of users and open discussions that take place throughout the day, a brand could be very interested to discover or understand what their customers think.

Another issue is whether the necessary tools already exist to do such monitoring, which in my view do exist and they are free … And another very important aspect is how data will be provide, in the end though the tweets are public insurance that many people do not make certain movements grace. Is assumed that users with private profiles will be respected or even want to return?

Despite these moves, they have stated that their claim is not disturbing the ecosystem of external services, and will continue supporting all the current tools and others that come with the API business. For example, CoTweet is a company that offers premium services to companies, so you are somewhat annoying. Moreover, it is quite normal and that the survival of Twitter is above the third-party applications, for obvious reasons.

The last interesting thing that has Biz Stone said in the interview that they have the billfold prepared to buy a company. The downside is that the Twitter service / platform has so many shortcomings that it is very difficult to guess the next move: want something like Twitpic? Or bit.ly? Or the CoTweet? Or a business location?
