As far as official blog posting is concerned, Microsoft has received only 12 customer service incidents which are seen in systems older than ~1.5 years. May be your Laptop Battery is really degraded or near to degrade. Your problem is different from this as Windows isn’t giving you any notofication.

Although it does not show any battery replacement message, but charging halts at 53%. I am confused so as to windows 7 is causing some problem or the problem is of battery itself.
