Youtube Videos Direct Download Trick without Software
Being Popular Video site, we have numerous tools, applications and web services to download Youtube Videos but to cut the strain of using an Youtube downloader software, here is a simple trick to download youtube videos in any quality instantly by running a Bookmarklet without any need of handy software to carry.
Update (23rd March 2012): In Modern Browsers, javascript: and data: URIs typed or pasted in the address bar are disabled to prevent social engineering attacks. Developers can enable them for testing purposes by toggling the “noscript.allowURLBarJS” preference.
So, there has to be a solution which doesn’t make use of Javascript directly but still lets you download Youtube Videos without java Software directly in various qualities.
So, we have alternative bookmarklets which still works on all browsers including Firefox, Chrome and Opera. Even Youtube HTML5 site won’t have any problem with these bookmarks.
Bookmarklets For Direct Youtube Download
Drag them to your Bookmarks Toolbar or right click on the link and save as Bookmark.
For Chrome Users, there is an extension called Simple Youtube Downloader.
How to download Youtube Videos with Bookmarklets
- Go to Youtube video page which you want to download.
- Click on the boommarklet installed and processing will start. It will read as- P”osting data to savetu.be, you will land at the download page in a few seconds”
- Download page appears with all the available versions of video namely High quality, FLV quality, MP4 format, HD video, etc.
- Choose from the links given and download begins.
Note: This script lets you download Youtube videos only, if you prefer audio, then use Youtube Music Downloader.

Yes that will make task more easier. Updated the post, Thanks for suggestion Ajay.
BTW the scriptlets don’t work anymore; at least not for chrome, opera and firefox on linux both for the flash and html5 version of youtube’s site. Why not update your post? It is currently a top search result in the duckduckgo search engine and it’s a shame for it to be outdated.
I’d suggest you also point to http://savetu.be which is the only java free youtube downloader I know of and that works even if you are in the HTML5 version of the site.

Here’s a simpler and another way to do it without scripts just open the video page and change video page url from http://www.youtube.com to http://www.ssyoutube.com If video page url is “http:// http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=4j_9nOzRV_k” then change it to “http://www.ssyoutube.com/ watch?v=4j_9nOzRV_k”. A window will appear you can now download video in 3gp/mp4 format……
Please help me how to download any videos from youtube in 3gp and mp4 or mp3 on mobile.
MP4 is already supported by the trick mentioned in post. You can use the procedure as Fayyaz said above your comment or Use YoutubeGet software ( http://www.blogsolute.com/youtubeget-registration-code-serial-key/12570/ ) to convert downloaded videos in the format you want.
