How to Add Shutdown/Restart/Hibernate/LogOff Tiles on Windows 8 Start Screen
By default Windows 8 Power options consists of Sleep, Shutdown and Restart. You can avail these options from the Charms Bar settings. If you are missing direct access to Log off, Hybrid and Hibernate Like in Windows 7 then System Power Shortcuts is at your service.
System Power Shortcuts is a Windows 8 freeware application. It brings all the Power buttons on windows 8 Start screen as Tiles.
Working With System Power Shortcuts on Windows 8
The single power shortcuts will act directly as you click on them. So, if you click on Restart button, your system will directly restart without taking further confirmation. Hence you got to be careful, an accidental click may cost you to loose your unsaved work.
[alert-note] How to Get Aero Glass Back in Windows 8 [/alert-note]There are 7 single shortcut tiles but if you wish you can use them at one place by directly clicking on System Power Shortcuts.
Clicking on System Power Settings will open a separate screen on top of Home Screen. You can select the option you want to have the desired action.
Suppose you do not want to take any action but want to return to the home Screen, just move your cursor at top of the screen and pull it down till the bottom of screen. In my opinion Using System Power Shortcut tile is better than keeping the single Power option tiles near hand. There wont be any accidental cases in this way.
System Power Shortcuts is a handy application to use if you do not want to use the Charms Bar or find it to be with less options. System Power Shortcuts works flawlessly as we have tested it on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
