Coollector Review: Movie Collection Software with IMDb & Barcode support
Though, not a movie fanatic yet, but I like to keep my Media files managed and searchable quickly. And I am sure you would like that too, who doesn’t. This Coollector Movie Database is the perfect and the easiest way to keep your Media/Movies (mostly) updated every week.
It has a Database of information of around 80,000 movies and also it keeps updating every week. It has so many options to comfort you by its knowledge of worldwide movies while searching for a particular movie.
What exactly it is- Understanding Coollector in short
Basically, its a library for your collection of movies, both in your HDD and downloadable movies from this App. You can buy movies from the App itself. You can rate your favourite movies & it will be highlighted with different indicators to over movies you own now. You can add a video related to the movie from your own Database, I mean from your own collection.
A Youtube link will also be given for that particular movie you’re searching. You can also put the Barcode in the search section and get results according to that. I have used this App & its helping me very nicely to keep an eye on my favourites. While searching a movie it suggests the results that could be possible for us. Just like the Google suggests us the results before even typing our query completely. Well that is bit of an irritation sometimes but in this App you would surely like the possible suggestions.

1 : Interface
See above, the highlighted portion shows information about more than 80,000 movies & series. At the right part, is the search result. I have rated positively as its my favourite movie. The IMDb rating & a Youtube link is given there to help you with the full information about the movie & also the offers to buy online.
2 : Movies you own
As you can see the movies I already have are shown in the results as (Its recognizing them as the related videos) owned. Movies are ordered as per the IMDb ratings & offers to buy them. Inside the search box, only correct movie names will be typed. If you’re going wrong it will resist you. If the movie names are same, you can select your particular movie from the results then watch its information at the right side.
3 : Scan your Movies
While adding your movies in Coollector, you should select the folder in which your movies are placed. I know I shouldn’t be telling this to you, as you all know this small thing, but it actually selects the Drives in your PC & you hit the scan but here is the catch, it will not detect your Movies. I got the error & for that select the proper folder.
4 : More than 80,000 movies of Information in the Database
Well, I have tried my best to search the least famous movies from my country (India) & I am amazed to see that they are there. This software really keeps your movies up to date. Although I have tried with the Regional movies but no results. I guess those movies would be updated eventually. There should be an option to add our movies which are not in the Database, Well that is not what we are discussing here right now.
This is the worst movie I have ever seen in a Theater. And even this movie is also in the Database. That’s not the point. My point here is to clear your doubts about not having the desired results for your particular movie. You must give it a try if you own a lot of movies, perfect for the Librarians who lend movies. It is the best organizer for your Movies & Media files.
As you can see the highlighted button, its actually Cooliris. It is a web based extension that runs on web browsers. You can have the information about your search results in Cooliris too. It is also having the same concept regarding your daily dose of Entertainment and News. Most of you might know this. I pointed it out just to let you all know that this App is associated with Cooliris.
