  1. If you have not yet installed Handcent SMS on your Android device, you can download and install it from the Market for free.
  2. Once you install the application, make a free account with Handcent SMS by tapping the setting button on your device while you are on the app and navigation to Settings—>Handcent services—>Get online account . 7. From now on the selected person’s SMS will skip your Inbox and will only appear in your private box after you successfully authenticate your self.

You can now relax as all your private conversations won’t be read(or be made visible) by other messaging apps (stock, 3rd party, etc.) without your password.

I have the Privacy Box on, but I want to change my password. The privacy box password is different from the default Handcent password, so if you change your Handcent password, your privacy box password is still the same. It does not change. I haven’t seen any setting within the privacy box settings – or online – that allows me to change my privacy box password. Any ideas?

Same think here! I forgot my account password so had it reset and it gave me a default password with random letters and numbers. Well I changed to something I can remember but the privacy pass is still the random default! Help?

I’m going through this as well. Is the privacy box password connected to the blacklist password, do you know?

You have to go to the online site , change your password here . Then go to the ” handcent services ” in the app . Then ” my handcent login ” type your login stuff & it will update . Otherwise its only changing your password online .

Thank you so much. I’ve searched the web and the phone for it, while I’m no genius, I’m not a noob. First answer I found. And IT WORKS! May I re-post it to other sites? It took too many google results find your solution.

      Hi there,

Would the sms thread be deleted if i select ‘remove’ when the box comes up? When I first transferred the thread into the privacy box I did not select the ‘leave a copy in the public inbox’ – so I’m worried.

      Thanks!
