Set USB Pendrive as Password Key to Lock / Unlock Windows

Windows security is a big concern when we come across various softwares that can be used to crack your windows password. Hence apart from normal security measures there should be some thing more to protect and warn you of any attempt made to access your computer when you are not there. This work can be easily done by predator.

Predator is a small and easy to use application that can give you a strong protection and save your time in many ways. Basically it makes a USB disk as key to enter windows, you do not necessarily require to type password to log in.

Setting Predator

As you install predator it will ask you to insert a USB drive and type in a password for it. Then you have to make the drive to work as a key to lock and unlock windows. There are other settings that you may change, like you can reduce predator read and write time so that it locks windows after that amount of time. This is done accurately as predator keeps monitoring your computer constantly and checks for the key(USB disk) is present or not. If it is not present windows is locked, after locking if it is inserted and detected windows will be unlocked.

You can also select the type of behavior by windows at locking time, select amount of brightness(by default fully dark) and can also select opened applications to be minimized. These applications are again restored when you put back the USB drive.If you have selected to enter password then when key is inserted you will be asked for password.

If some one tries to unlock windows without the key then a warning sound will be played and continued till it is rightfully unlocked by the key and you will be shown a warning message. In the professional edition this warning can also be sent to your twitter account.

My Verdict

This application is really helpful if you want tight security of your system. But please do not loose your USB drive which you were using as Key and also remember the password that you kept assigned to it, if you lost the key this password will help you login and predator monitoring will be stopped.
