TuneUp Utilities 2013 Review: Is It Better Than 2012? Should I Buy?

TuneUp Utilities is one of the most popular multi featured package utility for automated system maintenance. Latest version Tuneup Utilities 2013 is now out in market. Is it really a big jump from previous version? Lets take a look on the new features included in TuneUp Utilities 2013 Review.

I have been using TuneUp Utilities for a long time now. Every new version has been a big change visually and performance wise. What so ever, this time it has broken many of my expectations. Visually you will not be finding much difference and regarding features there are very few to make an impact.

TuneUp 2013 new Features

They haven’t added totally different features. New inclusions are just a small extension of the already present features in TuneUp 2012. Now, let’s go through the listed feature inclusions.

  • TuneUp Disk Cleaner 2013: Cleans up system-clogging clutter from 150 programs and Windows
  • TuneUp Browser Cleaner 2013: Removes data traces from 25 browsers
  • TuneUp Live Optimization 2.0: Stops performance-sapping programs
  • Future-proof: Fully compatible with Windows 8

TuneUp Computer Cleaner 2013

The cleanup section has major changes unlike TuneUp 2012 where we had a common cleanup section which included all options. Now its more detailed and separate options like Windows and program cleaner, browser cleaner, broken Shortcut Cleaner and windows Functionality Disable.

TuneUp Claims that TuneUp 2013 cleans 6 times better than any of the previous versions as it includes more programs to remove temporary data.

TuneUp Browser Cleaner 2013

Separate browser cleaner is a good inclusion for people worried about privacy. It clears all your private data and additionally you can also manually block cookies from certain sites by adding them to blacklist. Browser cleaner is also included in One Click maintenance.

Hence, all your browsing secrets will be wiped out automatically once the maintenance starts. You have to be careful in case you do not want your browser data cleaned up, disable the function in one click maintenance. This was a bitter experience when I did not pay attention to Advance System Care auto maintenance which had this feature from a long time. Till date, I was using CCleaner for this purpose.

TuneUp says, it supports 25 browsers. Well, I haven’t used so many of them yet in my lifetime. I guess every one uses at max 2-3 browsers at a time.

TuneUp Live Optimization 2.0

The new live optimization feature will also allow you to specify applications that wont be pushed down the priority level if you are starting new applications. This new feature will be helpful when you are using applications like Photoshop, Camstasia etc and then opening new applications like Firefox browser, video player etc.

Future-proof

tuneup 2013 new features

Well, TuneUp 2013 is fully compatible with Windows 8. I was looking out for one live tile which was expected rather I am bombarded with all the shortcuts on the metro Home screen. You may find it convenient to open up any TuneUp feature, on the other hand if you do not like to have so many apps on home screen, just batch select them by right click and remove them.

Conclusion

More than new feature inclusions like from TuneUp 2010 to Tuneup 2011/ 2012, the main focus this time was on improving the present functionality. If you were planning to buy TuneUp 2013 for the first time then go ahead. In case you are already using TuneUp 2012 and were thinking whether to upgrade or not, in my opinion its better to halt now. Before buying it, try TuneUp 2013 free for 15 days.

Thanks for the update Sourojit. I still have TuneUp 2010. I’ve avoided the upgrade because it fulfills all the functions that I need for my laptops.

Dear Sourojit

I purchased Tune Up Utilities 2012 and it was a total junk, being the software program wiped out my entire Windows 7 home Premium, including Windows XP Pro. (The company refunded my money immediate).

I use Advanced System Care Pro 5 from http://www.iobit.com And Process Lasso.

If it was free, I would never again entertain the thought of ever using their software. Only a fool makes the same mistake twice.

Its really sad that you faced such situation. I have been using Tuneup Since 2010, never faced such problem.
Anyway If you can manually take care of your system, you will never need to buy these software. All you need to input is a little free time to system maintenance.

Dear Sourojit :

I make time every day for system maintenance, as I am a moral and legal obligation in my medical work to keep my PC 100% clean. (I go all the way back to IBM, so I trust the auto., registry cleaners has the software saves me the time from performing manual cleaning. (You might consider the software I have installed as “over-kill”, but they are all compitable and cause no conflicts).

Ace Utilities, ASC5, Jet Cleaner Pro, CCleaner, RFA 8.2, Perfect Disk 12.5 SBMAV Disk Cleaner, JV Power Tools 2012, Ashampoo Reg Optimizer, Process Lasso, Zemana Antilogger, Zemana Malware, Hard Disk Sentinel, Eset NOD32 V5 primary anti virus, Sophos (Stand alone Virus Tool). Malwarebytes Pro. PC Tools Free Firewall. Plus “Update Checker”, scans and updates any out of date installed software in your PC.

On a daily basis I use , Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic, Persian, Russian and English webpages, and I will say for all of your “Blogsolute” followers that Eset NOD32 anit virus, Malwarebytes Pro., finds script errors/dangerous malware and blocks the webpage in real time 100% in any langauge. Plus Eset NOD32 warns you in tray if Microsoft has an out of cycle critical update, before the second Tuesday of every month.

Above installed software took a little time and effort on my part to find the exact software where all were 100% compatible and no conflicts. (71 Auto Loads in 60 seconds on boot-up), plus 5 widgets).

I allowed “Tune Up Utilities 2012”, to use my “Team Viewer”, to install and run, wiped out both Windows XP Pro, and Windows 7 Home Premium they had now answers as to why.

Ok, I went through Wopti Utilities. Personally I would recommend you to go for Advanced System Cleaner.

    https://www.blogsolute.com/advanced-systemcare-pro-v5-2013-review/23401/
In the above link we have compared Advanced System Care with Tune Up 13 in details, plz take a look
    ..
Coming back to Wopti utilities vs Advance System Cleaner:

    1) ASC will cost you 19$ where as Wopti costs 39.95$.

    2) Nearly all the features provided by Wopti Utilities are present in Advanced System Cleaner. Except a few, like Benchmarking. (You can get it from a dedicated free system benchmarking software, they provide better detailed results than wopti benchmark).

    3) Couldn’t find a automated system cleaning in Wopti. ( May be I am wrong if i missed the option somewhere).

    4) Advanced System Care Interface is better than Wopti. Maintenance is aggressive and flexibility is great. File cleaning is lot better with empty folder scan, duplicate file finder, Junk remover. You will be comfortable with it. Wopti has a poorly detailed presentation in this respect.

    5) Wopti lacks usage profiles, and also max performance modes like the turbo mode in Tune up and Game mode in Advanced system care. Here Tune Up scores the best with Live optimization, but you wont need that much.

    6) Wopti is much more like a tweaking application from the interface its providing, I found it less user friendly to general people.

And many more things i may be missing in details. In particular, it has got good reviews as you say. The services provided are standard but Here we are comparing it with 2 big names already topping the market for years coz you need the best. Personally I have been using both of them for years now).
If you have No problem with paying high then go for TuneUp. In my opinion ASC is preferable over Tune up(reasons in the link above). Wopti is still making no mark in my mind.

Let me know your further views.
