Find and Run Robot – Great Application Launcher
For those who have never used an application launcher, Find and Run Robot (or FARR) is a small program that uses an adaptive “live search” function to rapidly find programs and documents on your computer as you type.
To launch any program, Just press your chosen hotkey to display the FARR window, then just start typing the first letters of the application you want to launch and the results appear instantly. Hit enter to launch the top result, or refine your search with special modifiers and commands.
What sets FARRE and places it above the rest, is the amount of customization and options it has. If you want something simple, which only launches applications, give a better look at Launchy or Executor. FARR is more like Quicksilver for Mac, thanks to the support of plugins and extras, we can not just launch apps, but also send mail, copy multiple entries with CTRL-C and choose a list to then paste them, make calculations, browse favorites (with support for Firefox, IE and Opera) and much more.
What you do is keep in memory the available applications. And also, of course, remember what our favorites, assigning an appropriate priority for future uses (for example, continue writing “micro office” in the image, but we launched Powerpoint, Powerpoint program in place at the top of the list in the future, to launch when you press Enter).
Finally, the program is very lightweight. When in idle, it consumes about 700 KBs of RAM. And already said ” The Ultimate Program for Keyboard Maniacs”
