Google Friend Connect is now available
As a reaction to Facebook connect, Google might have opened this universal login system called “Friend Connect” It was in news from a long time and now its alive online. Google has announced the public beta availability of Google Friend Connect, originally announced and previewed in May. As a standards-based platform for single sign-on and bringing existing social networks to other websites.
Google always offers simplicity in its service as we told you earlier. Friend Connect appears somewhat easier and more straightforward to implement than Facebook Connect. Also, Friend Connect is linked to Open Social. As written on their official blog it says – Any website that implements Friend Connect becomes an OpenSocial container, capable of running OpenSocial applications.

With this great application it has some pros and cons. Website owners have limited-to-no ability to actually incorporate data that users choose to interact with or share on their site. For example, while a website owner can embed a simple Google Friend Connect component that makes it easy for logged-in users to share a link to the site with Gmail contacts, users won’t be able to populate their profile on the site with their Twitter or MySpace information.
Still, it has a single sign-in advantage and bringing social network to your blog which will gain more attraction. I have already gave it a try on my blog. You too can join it at Friend Connect homepage.
