USB 3.0 to offer 5gbps transfer rate

After a long delay, third generation of USB is going to hit the world. USB 3.0 SuperSpeed logo was shown at WinHEC 2008. The specifications are handed over to early adopters that plan to design products around SuperSpeed USB 3.0; It is expected to offer 10 times the speed of USB 2.0–used in virtually all PCs introduced in the last few years–or roughly 5 gigabyts per second.

Moreover, there was a rumour that Windows 7 will not support speedy USB 3.0 natively means it will not be shipped with Windows 7 RTM. This speedy USB can transfer 25 GB in just 70 seconds; To put that in perspective, the same transfer would take 13.9 minutes with the current USB 2.0 protocol and 9.3 hours on USB 1.0

Speed is really an impressive one but I don’t find its logo attractive; Yes, the speed is what all matters to us. have your views regarding upcoming USB 3.0 here.

And now it’s waiting for USB 3.0 consumer goods to hit the market. They will probably be very expensive and no OS will support them… but I can’t wait for them :-)
