Windows 7 Release Candidate 1 is finally available for download officially from 5th May. The moment has finally arrived when we can go to Microsoft website and start downloading Windows 7 RC, either as 64 or 32 bits edition in five languages.

To download Windows 7 RC, you need to enter the download site with our Windows Live ID, if we select the 32-bit version or 64-bit and then select one language. However, The expected rush has already started and the Microsoft servers are bogging down under the load. While the main page seems to load and display fine the login step that is required before downloading the release candidate is not. It takes a long time and does end most of the time with a blank page or errors.

Rather than going to the official Windows 7 site, You can get it from the Technet server (or MSDN) which is said to be more stable and less congested server with not much load.

Once our copy of Windows is activated, you can use it without problems until March 1, 2010. Since then, the PC where we have installed the RC will be turned off automatically every 2 hours till June 1st 2010 and then it will completely stop working.
