With daily use hard disks of our systems gets stacked with lots of files. Same files can get copied in different locations consuming a large amount of valuable free space. Duper is free, small and fast application that can quickly search and remove duplicate files from your system.

Though this is a java application it performs its task in an efficient manner. First of all you have to download the application for your operating system. It is a cross platform application supporting windows, linux and Mac OS X.

In windows the latest version of this application needs java web start . If you have java runtime installed, directly click on the downloaded file and it will be installed online.

Using this application is very easy, it consists of one main window, you can select drive of folders to scan for duplicate files. There are many options that can be selected to narrow search filter for the application . You can exclude file types in the search. After the search is done duplicate files found are shown, you can select and delete them.

My Verdict: This application may seem weak on flashy user interface but is really simple to use and fast. I tested it on windows 7 32 bit to detect duplicates in my photo collection and it found out some duplicate images even with different names.

    Hi Sourojit
I use Directory Report to find duplicate files on MS-Windows. It is fast and simple to use since it looks just like the MS-Explorer
