Searching for document files on internet is a common thing that we do time to time. When we are not sure about where to get the document we generally take help of Google search. This search generally shows lot of sites which you can visit to find out the document that you require. Finally you may have gone through many irrelevant sites before getting the right location to download a small file. OutWit Docs is a firefox add-on that helps to solve this situation.

OutWit Docs resides beside the search bar and will help you find documents in two ways either you can click its icon after opening the site where you want to search or you can directly enter the site name in it. If you are not sure about where to find the document, you can use the search engine option and search for the document name.

It supports most document formats and displays the search result in the main window. Taking the mouse cursor over the file will show all information regarding the file. You can directly download the document or catch it for later download. Just right click on the file to get download and other options.

You can also narrow your search by selecting lesser formats, or set number of pages to be searched, this add-on also has an auto save feature and the download location can be predefined.

My Verdict

This is a very useful add-on and can save a lot of time for us.

Blogger Template Designer creates personalized Blogspot Templates

Blogger has introduced another interesting feature called “Template Designer“. The main difference between Wordpress and blogger is that blogger has limited features and wordpress has lots of great features like Plugin Installation, Permalink Structure etc. But now blogger is also moving toward advance Content Management System(CMS). Some days back blogger added another feature called “Add Pages” and now “Template Designer”.

Those who have less knowledge about CSS and HTML can also create their own personalized template for blogspot blogs. The feature “Template Designer” is now on Blogger Draft and soon it will be placed on Main Blogger page.

How to Access Template Designer Feature

Click on Layout and there you will see Template Designer feature.

After clicking on “Template Designer” you will see another box, where you can Customize your Blog.

There are Four Main features. Template, Background, Layout and Advance.

Template:- You can select different style of Templates provided by popular Template Designers, for example Simple, Picture window, Awesome Inc and WaterMark Templates.

Background: Change background color. Plenty of colors and customization are available to add in your blog.

Layout: This is one of the most useful feature I have seen in blogger. Now you can easily change the whole Layout of your blogspot blog. You can design Two Column, Three Column Template and customize your blog headers and footer. Move the position of all widgets to left, right top or down. This feature is great to give a completely different look to your blog.

Advance: Using this option you can change color for Page Text, Background, Blog Title, Tabs Text, Date Header, Post, and Links color. There is another feature under Advance option called CSS. You can add any CSS code in side the box to add new stuffs to your blogspot blog.

Monitor Application Memory Usage and Limit them

Sometimes we all are troubled by abnormal behavior of system applications. This happens due to many reasons that makes an application consume more memory and increase cpu load. Now you can manage these situations and control abnormally behaving applications with Kiwi application Monitor.

It is a small, easy to use software that is available in free and premium versions. For normal usage free version is satisfactory. The premium version consists of some advanced features and functionality.

To monitor an application you have to add it first in Kiwi. You can directly write the name of the application or you can also use the process explorer to add up process. The process explorer also gives you information about the processes memory, peak memory, cpu time, running time. You can also terminate any process, view total processes running with total physical load or add a process to monitor.

Selecting a process and pressing the add button brings up the alert set window. Here you will get options to set alert options for the particular process with respect to when it starts or ends, exceeds certain defined memory limit or cpu run time. You can also specify certain basic rules to be performed when these alerts are triggered, apart from closing the process you can also set rules to shutdown computer with the end of that process , start or end a different process.

This software is very helpful in monitoring and controlling processes that are not working normally.

Hide Several files Creating a Single Locked EXE file

Hiding files is an essential need that arises time to time specially when we carry personal data in portable usb drives. There are many softwares that are capable to perform this job, but some are not free or are bit complex for normal people to understand. This job can be done easily with Protect Me.

Protect Me is a portable and small application that can accumulate several files inside a single EXE file. This EXE file is locked using a user defined password.

It is simple and too easy to use and needs no further complicated configurations. As you start the application you have to drag and drop files or folders inside the application to add them. When you have completed adding files enter a password for the EXE to be created. You can also choose icon of the created file, use the default icon or use no icon. When done press the Create Container button to make the .EXE file in your desired location.

After the EXE is created you can click on it enter the password and select the files to be extracted from the EXE container or save files in the container to your desired location. It uses SHA1 and AES to ensure privacy and security of your data.

My Verdict

This is the simplest of other applications doing the same job. If you are a beginner and want simple protection of your data then this application will be of great help.
