Unlocking Logon/ Logoff/ Unlock Sound Events

• Press Win key + R to bring up the Run Dialog box. Type regedit and press Enter.

•  As the Registry Editor opens, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels.

In EventLabels you will find many options, scroll down and find Windows Logon, logoff, Unlock options. Select the one for which you want to get sound options in Sound Control panel.

• After selecting your option, you can see ExcludeFromCPL on the right with a default value 1. Double Click on it and change the value from 1 to 0. click on ok.

• You can repeat the same procedure for the sound events you want to enable. Once you are done close the Registry Editor. Open the Sounds Control Panel, the unlocked sound events will be present there.

That’s all you need to do for unlocking Logon, Logoff and Unlock sound events. there is no risk in editing in this category i.e in the Events Labels. If you feel you have done something wrong, just change the values of ExcludeFromCPL. 0 means not excludes whereas 1 denotes that its excluded from Sound Control panel.

Solution lies in your email ID itself and what all you need is a Gmail ID to make this trick work.

Do you know that your one Gmail ID is equal to unlimited number of email addresses.

This is because Gmail doesn’t care about dots (.) or capital letters in email ID. An email address with dots is same as the one without dots.

For example, if your email ID is rohit.india@gmail.com, it is same as rohitindia@gmail.com. Any message sent to any of those addresses will land in the same inbox which belongs to you.

While signing up for new account, if you see an error saying “email has already been taken”, just add or remove dots from gmail ID and continue signing up.

Reason: Website you are signing up considers rohit.india@gmail.com and rohitindia@gmail.com as two different email IDs. So, it lets you create new account with it. Any email notification sent by them reaches the same inbox.

What’s the use?

• You can create multiple Facebook (or any other) accounts using same Email ID
• Use the same email ID when old account was banned from service. This generally happens on forums.

How to Access Gmail Offline

Install Gmail Offline from Web store and icon will appear in Apps tab of Chrome web browser. On first use, this app will ask you to add an account. Now, it will try to synchronize emails or I should say download them from Gmail servers. By default, app is set to sync emails from last 2 weeks.

Interface of the app is different from the regular Gmail UI but it is easy to interact. It is HTML5-powered app based on the Gmail web app for tablets, which was built to function with or without web access. Email list and labels are shown on left column whereas preview is on right side.

Operation buttons are given at the top from where you can Delete, Mark as Read, Archive, Compose new email and so on.

How Does Gmail Work Offline

You may be wondering how does email reach the person when I send it without connecting to internet. Actually, email isn’t sent when you press Send button offline. Things required to Edit a.9.png Image

Let’s start from a list which will be needed for the task:

1. An Image Editor ( I prefer Adobe CS5 ).
2. You need AndroidSdk installed for getting the Draw9patch.bat
3. And you need really a good patience so that your work goes in ease.

Getting Started

   Step 1 :

Open your .9.png in image editor, as you can see below I opened it in Adobe Photoshop Cs5.

Now you might think, what are the black dots in the border! So, exactly I was coming to that point. Those black dots are for Deciding Height, Width and the touch area. Like if you guys see in the left side there is a dot. so that decides the Vertical content  and the Upper side Decides the Horizontal content to shown. Both the right side and lower side decides content to touch.

The very next thing is to edit the image, select the whole image which doesn’t include those black dots and lines.

Edit it as you want.

Save it as it is in the form of png (.9.png should be the extension).

So Step 1 is done now only 1 step remains. sometimes you won’t even have to do this but it’s better to do because, it can cause error.

Step 2:

1. Open draw9patch.bat from your AndroidSdk/tools by double clicking on draw9patch.bat
2. Wait for few seconds or minutes, a java window will pop out with an arrow Something like this.

1. Now drag your file to this Java window.
2. There should be the DOTS and LINES out there, if there aren’t then you can see the image and copy it same like that , but it depends on your PNG what PNG you opened for:

•  For adding dots / lines you can simply click on the corners.
• For Deleting you just have to press SHIFT and CLICK on the corners WHERE dots/lines are there.

So after you are done adjusting your .9.png only one thing is left now is to save the file. Congratulations you are done with your editing of .9.png.

So the main thing is to draw9patch.bat things. You can create any image once you get the correct resolution.

• Where to find the .9.png?

Ans : You can find in all of your APK files which has graphics. The images used in these are of .9.png format.

• Some Images I have in my Firmware isn’t having any kind of dots or lines?

Ans : Some of the new firmware like DDKQ8 or if you are porting from SGSII roms or any other armv7 type of phone then they have a smart .9.png so the dots and lines got vanished. They are recompiled due to which the dots disappeared. Editing these kind of .9.png files will be discussed later, may be in some other tutorial.

When this space is cleared completely, reboot the device, and this time takes a while to boot the device. Not to worry, even if the screen is black, it ends up booting. That time is spent regenerating the cache with the applications we have installed. After that we will have got some free space, because over time the Dalvik Cache swells.

How to Clear Dalvik Cache Manually / Command

The first way to clear the Dalvik Cache is done manually. It is fairly easy, if you have installed the Android SDK (or use a terminal emulator on Android) and have some knowledge of Linux commands. Basically you have to do is delete the entire contents of /data/Dalvik-cache.

You only have to run the command rm-r /data/Dalvik-cache/* either from a terminal emulator on the Android itself or through the SDK adb shell tool. Once done you have to reset the device.

Dalvik Cache Cleaner App for Android

There are many applications in Google Play store that allow clearing of Dalvik Cache. I’ve used one such called Andromizer and is quite simple. Simply click on Remove Dalvik Cache, give OK and the terminal will automatically reboot with the regenerated cache.

Titanium Backup also lets you delete the Dalvik Cache, but only to the paid version. Andromizer is therefore a good free lightweight alternative to perform this operation.

Clear Dalvik Cache using Recovery

Another option you have is to delete the Dalvik Cache from the recovery, at least if we need ClockworkMod Recovery. In the advanced menu, there is the option of deleting the Dalvik cache and will not need any special application to do so, simply enter the recovery on restart (how to do this varies from terminal to terminal, but can be done with the command adb reboot recovery )
